Amperio x photovoltaic solar powerplant

Amperio team worked for a photovoltaic solar power plant in Onnens VD, with an impressive output of 8.3 MW and a surface area of 50,000 m², is a remarkable achievement in the field of renewable energy in Switzerland.
Occupying the equivalent of 7 soccer pitches, the plant consists of 31,000 photovoltaic panels that generate electricity for around 2,300 Swiss households.

Weight management and ingenious solar panel design

One of the main challenges of this project was to manage the weight of the solar panels on the roof of the warehouses. Traditional solar panels weighing around 18 kg/m² would have been too heavy for the roof structure. The company developed lighter solar panels weighing no more than 10 kg/m², including the structure.

Secure and reliable electrical distribution

Another crucial challenge of this project was the electrical distribution and connection of the installation. To ensure optimum and secure electrical distribution, it was necessary to install robust and reliable power rails. This is where Amperio GmbH played a key role in the project’s success. Amperio GmbH contributed to the electrical distribution of the plant by supplying almost 1 km of 2000A energy rails (busbars) with IP67 protection.
These rails ensure a reliable and efficient connection between the photovoltaic panels and the electrical distribution system. Thanks to this technical contribution from Amperio, the energy generated by the 31,000 panels can be safely transmitted to supply Swiss households with green electricity.

Electrical distribution for photovoltaic power plant

Amperio’s expertise in electrical distribution and connection ensured optimum performance and long-term reliability. By providing high-quality electrical solutions, Amperio GmbH helped maximize the efficiency and sustainability of this solar photovoltaic power plant.

Active participation in the fight against global warming

This solar power plant in Onnens is a concrete example of how collaboration and innovation in electrical engineering can contribute to a greener, more sustainable energy future in Switzerland. The technical challenges of this project demonstrate the importance of expertise and creativity in developing efficient renewable energy solutions.

Amperio GmbH is proud to have played a part in this project, which contributes to the fight against global warming and the promotion of green energy. By participating in projects of this scale, we are affirming our commitment to energy transition and environmental protection. We are convinced that, through collaboration and innovation, we can help create a cleaner, more sustainable world for future generations.
